A Happy Marriage Means Be Supportive

Being a supportive spouse is your job as a spouse. How else will you both make it through the stresses of our modern world?

I know there are many distractions and many temptations to pull you away and apart from your spouse. In fact you both may have very different interests and be involved in very different activities, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be supportive.

It is quite a task to take on complete and total support (responsibility) for another person.

Marriage Counseling That Works

Some of the most stressful times in a person’s life can be caused by Marital problems.

An unhappy home life does affect all other aspects of your life. It can creep into the workplace, into your relationships with your friends, it can even create negative effects in your community.

Marriage counseling is often looked upon as a last resort. And because the problems are of such a personal nature many times counseling is simply thought to be out of the question.

And with many “modern” therapies where  the therapist seems to take sides it hard to blame couples from doing all they can to avoid counseling.

Marriage: Quotes to Think About

I have assembled some quotes on the subject of marriage for you to peruse. There are some beautiful pearls of wisdom here. Enjoy!

Ann Landers:

All married couples should learn the art of battle as they should learn the art of making love. Good battle is objective and honest–never vicious or cruel. Good battle is healthy and constructive, and brings to a marriage the principle of equal partnership.

Ann Landers Says Truth Is Stranger…, 1968

Homer:

There is nothing nobler or more admirable than when two people who see eye to eye keep house as man and wife, confounding their enemies and delighting their friends.

Stress Management

There are countless articles online regarding the subject of Stress Management. And frankly most of them are weak and inaccurate. They tout false sources for stress and deliver ineffective “solutions”.

Stress is the result of unhandled pressure either from environmental factors or internal factors. “Internal” meaning inside of you: emotional or mental strain. That seems too simple but if it was handled then you wouldn’t feel the stress.

Stress management can only be achieved when one knows the source of the stress and the correct technology to handle that source.

Stress Anxiety

Do you have too much stress in your life? Are you feeling anxious?

Under stress a person can begin to feel agitated and have feelings of fear. It can seem that problems are impossible to solve, it’s difficult to relax. Sometimes when it all seems like too much you may even slow down and feel depressed, rather than feeling agitated.

Not understanding stress and anxiety and their hidden sources, your reactions can turn into a vicious circle. First you become upset and fatigued, then less able to focus on the problem. So, rather than handling the probems at hand you don’t handle them and it grows larger. And then you can start to panic.

Symptoms of Stress

It seems that there are thousands of symptoms now being related to stress.

Here is a short list of the many symptoms related to stress:

Memory problems…Feeling tense…Procrastination…Trouble Thinking Clearly…Feeling Overwhelmed…Constant Worrying…Feeling Dispersed…Feeling Fearful…Irregular Sleeping Patterns

Having a Short Fuse…Being Easily Irritated with Others…The Inability to Relax….Feeling Agitated…Sense of Loneliness and Isolation…Feeling Depressed…Being Moody

Irregular Eating Habits …Making Mistakes…Isolating Yourself from Others… Indecisiveness…Drug and Alcohol Use…Nervous habits… Teeth Grinding or Jaw Clenching…Overreacting…Headaches or Backaches…Nausea…Dizziness…Insomnia…Rapid Heartbeat

We can see that stress causes many dangerous symptoms. In fact looking over this list it seems to me that the majority of problems we have to deal with on a day to day basis are stress related.

What Is Stress

There are many opinions as to the long term effects of stress. One thing is for certain and that is that people who live with chronic stress are much more likely to become involved in habits such as smoking and overeating. In other words they will do things that are bad for them adding to the harmful effects of the stress.

But the question is:“What is stress?

It has been said that stress is how the body responds to any kind of forceful demands; that when you feel stressed by something going on around you your body reacts by releasing chemicals into the blood.

Marriage Advice for New Couples

My wife and I have been married now for 22 years. We have 3 kids and a great life together. In 22 years we have never had a fight, we do not argue and we do not tromp all over each other’s buttons.

There are those out there who do not believe me when I tell them this but it is true. I am very proud of this record and there is no reason why we will not grow old together in marital bliss as each other’s best
friend.

My advice to any newly wed is this: “It takes two people to fight or argue.”

The Effects of Stress

The word stress is used so often in so many different circumstances it can become quite confusing to understand. The types of stress one exhibits can be narrowed down to just a few. There is physical trauma on the body, chemical trauma and emotional stress.  It is the latter of these that this article is about.

I have observed that the attempt to handle emotional stress on an individual keeps no boundaries.  It is present on every continent and with all peoples.  Although there are literally thousands of books, supposed remedies and techniques to handle this, there is only one that I have found that truly cuts to the core of this type of stress and can zero in with laser type accuracy and that is Dianetics.
